Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs open a six-game homestand when they host the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night. First pitch from Coca-Cola Park is set for 7:05 p.m. Lehigh Valley enters play at 20-32 after dropping two of three at Charlotte. The Red Wings sit atop the North Division at 27-23 but dropped two of three to Buffalo before rain postponed the series finale on Sunday.
LHP Joely Rodriguez (2-4, 5.27) will be on the bump for the Pigs Tuesday night. Rodriguez took the loss in his last start as he allowed four runs on five hits while walking three over six innings of work on Wednesday at Gwinnett. The southpaw is 2-2 with a 3.69 ERA in his last 5 GS and will be making his second start of the year against the Wings. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native earned his first win of the season at Rochester on May 16 after allowing three runs on nine hits while fanning five in 5.2 IP.
LHP Jason Wheeler (1-3, 6.02) gets the ball for manager Mike Quade's squad. Last time out, Wheeler surrendered five runs on seven hits to go along with three strikeouts over 5.0 IP at Durham on Monday. Back on May 15, the Torrance, Calif. native gave up four runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings of work vs. the IronPigs. Wheeler has posted a 1-2 mark with a 7.14 ERA in his last 5 GS.
The first 3,000 fans 18 and older will receive a Bacon USA T-Shirt presented by NAMI Lehigh Valley, Digital Oasis and InsuranceHouseCall.com. It is also a TD Bank Dog Day at Coca-Cola Park.
