Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls beat the Charlotte Knights 2-1 in the opener of a three-game set at the DBAP Tuesday night, winning their fourth straight contest.
All of the game's scoring came in the fourth inning, as Charlotte (29-22) scored in the top of the inning when Matt Davidson doubled, and scored two batters later on a single by Jason Coats.
Durham (30-23) countered in the bottom of the frame though, as Ryan Brett doubled to lead off the inning before Taylor Motter walked. Eugenio Velez then followed with an RBI single to tie the game, and two batters later JP Arencibia singled off the Blue Monster, scoring Velez for a 2-1 advantage.
Right-hander Dylan Floro (2-1) earned the victory, allowing one run on six hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Southpaw Enny Romero picked up the first save of his professional career, tossing three scoreless frames out of the bullpen, striking out four and allowing just two hits. Kyle Drabek (1-3) was the tough-luck loser for the Knights, allowing two runs on five hits over four innings.
The series continues Wednesday night, when Durham sends RHP Matt Buschmann (5-3, 2.77) to the hill against Charlotte RHP Chris Beck (3-2, 3.30). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
