
Bats Take Two in Doubleheader over Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y - The Louisville Bats (27-25) sweep their first doubleheader of the season versus the Syracuse Chiefs (17-35), 8-5 in nine innings and 6-1 on Tuesday at NBT Bank Stadium.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Bats and the Chiefs played a scoreless game until the fifth inning, Syracuse struck first scoring two runs. The Bats tied up the game and took the 5-2 lead all in the seventh inning. Eugenio Suarez hit his eighth home run of the season and third straight game with a homer, first time in his career.
Nate Adcock started the bottom of the seventh inning and gave up three earned runs that tied the game for the Chiefs and sent game one into extras. The Bats battled back and scored three runs in the ninth and Sam LeCure (2-2, W) closed it out for the 8-5 win. Evan Meek (2-3, L) got the loss in game one.
Righty Dylan Axelrod (2-3) went five innings, he gave up just four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and had two strike-outs on the night. Right-hander Scott McGregor (3-4) went six and two thirds innings for Syracuse, he gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked two, and struck out one.
Right-hander Donovan Hand (1-2) started game two of the doubleheader for the Bats, he went three innings, gave up no hits, walked one, and had four strike-outs. Ben Klimesh (2-0, W) came in to relieve and earned the win in game two.
Louisville scored a run every other inning in game two, one in the second, two in the fourth, and three in the sixth for a total of six runs. Syracuse scored their only run in the seventh, the Bats swept the Chiefs 6-1. Eric Fornataro (0-2, L) got the loss in game two after going three innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, he walked two, and struck out two.
Tomorrow will be the final game of the series in Syracuse starting at 10:35 a.m. Probable's are right-hander Josh Smith and right-hander Bruce Billings for the Chiefs.
