Titans spiked by Nailers, 4-2

WHEELING, WV (March 23, 2007) - A two-goal night by Wheeling Nailers forward Sean Collins helped sink the Trenton Titans, 4-2, on Friday night at the WesBanco Arena.

Collins picked up his first goal of the game and allowed the Nailers to build a 3-0 lead midway through the second period when he buried the rebound from Ned Havern's shot from the far circle.

Trenton answered back thirty-eight seconds after the tally as Luis Tremblay blasted a slapshot that goalie Andy Franck was unable to keep from trickling across the goal line.

Mark Pandolfo cut Wheeling's lead to one at 15:42 of the period when he accepted a pass in the slot from Evan Shaw and beat Frank under the crossbar for his 18th of the season.

The Titans had am opportunity to the tie the game with a power play at end the frame, but instead fell behind by two once again when Collins gathered a loose puck at the blueline and took it down the length of the ice for a shorthanded marker that made it 4-2 with 1:23 left until break.

Franck - 26 saves - and the Nailers defense kept Trenton scoreless in the final period to register the win.

Former Trenton Titan Adam Edinger broke the scoreless tie at 11:33 of the first when he was left alone in front and roofed Ryan Moren's centering pass into the top corner.

Skating 5-on-4, Jon Smyth pushed the Nailers' lead to 2-0 just twenty-eight seconds into the second period when he took Adam Edinger's face-off win to the blue line and fired a wrist shot that beat a screened Joel Martin.
