
Everblades sign Baum to contract

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has signed forward Dan Baum to a contract completing the December 21 trade with the Phoenix Roadrunners.
Baum joins the Everblades after skating in 15 games with St. Hyacinthe of the Quebec senior professional league. Baum tallied three goals, four assists and 118 penalty minutes in his time with St. Hyacinthe. Prior to that, the 23-year-old played in 11 games with the Roadrunners, where he picked up two assists and 27 penalty minutes. Baum began the 2006-07 season with the Dayton Bombers where he collected three points (2g, 1a) and eight PIM in seven games.
The 6-1, 197 pound winger was selected in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers and saw action in 24 games with the Greenville Grrrowl in 2005-06, picking up six points (1g, 5a) and 121 PIM. Prior to that Baum spent the entire 2004-05 campaign in the American Hockey League with Edmonton where he scored three goals and added four assists while compiling a career high 206 PIM in 48 games.
The Biggar, Sask. native began his professional career in 2003-04 splitting time with the Toronto Roadrunners of the AHL and the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL. Baum notched a career high ten points (4g, 6a) in 37 games with Toronto and saw action in three games with the Cottonmouths.
Prior to joining the pro ranks, Baum spent three seasons at the junior level with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League. In four seasons with the Cougars, Baum notched 179 points (79g, 100a) and 666 PIM in 258 games.
