EASTLAKE, Ohio - Tommy Medica's fifth-inning single was the TinCaps' lone hit in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Lake County Captains, Wednesday at Classic Park.

Captains knuckleballing RHP Steven Wright delivered six strong innings to lead the way for Lake County. He and three relievers combined on the one-hitter. The Fort Wayne franchise, in existence since 1993, has never been no-hit.

The Captains took the lead in the first inning without getting a ball out of the infield. LeVon Washington drew a leadoff walk, stole second and later scored on an infield single by Jesus Aguilar.

In the second, Lake County tacked on two more. Washington singled home Alex Lavisky, who reached on a walk, then Werner balked home Nick Bartolone to make it 3-0.

The TinCaps finally received their first hit from Tommy Medica leading off the top of the fifth, a ringing single to left. Fort Wayne loaded the bases with one out later in the inning, but Captains RHP Steven Wright induced an inning-ending double play to short-circuit the rally.

Lake County added an insurance run in the seventh. A Washington single followed by a Ronny Rodriguez double put runners at second and third, then Giovanny Urshela lifted a sacrifice fly to center to push the margin to 4-0.

Wright (1-0) picked up the win; Fort Wayne LHP Andrew Werner (1-4) took the loss.

The TinCaps fell to 14-24 while Lake County improved to 18-19.

Fort Wayne and the Captains (Class-A Cleveland Indians) finish the three-game series with a doubleheader beginning Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Classic Park. Starting pitchers are to be determined.
