Lake County Captains News Release
(Lansing, MI) - Steven Wright threw six shutout innings and LeVon Washington accounted for three of the Captains four runs as the Lake County Captains shutout the Fort Wayne Tincaps 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon. It was the Captains second shutout of the season.
The Captains got on the board in the first inning when LeVon Washington walked and stole second. He went to third on a ground out and scored on an infield single by Jesus Aguilar and the Captains lead 1-0. The Captains lead went to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Washington drove in Alex Lavisky and Nick Bartolone scored on a balk by Tincaps starter Andrew Werner. The Captains added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Giovanny Urshela hit a sacrifice fly that scored Washington and it was 4-0.
Captains starter Steven Wright (1-0) got the win working six scoreless innings allowing only one hit, walking three and striking out three. J.D. Reichenbach came on in the seventh inning and threw a scoreless inning striking out one. Dale Dickerson worked a scoreless the eighth inning walking one and striking out one and Nick Sarianides threw a scoreless ninth inning.
Werner (1-4) took the loss pitching five innings allowing three runs on six hits, walking two and striking out one.
The Captains and Tincaps conclude their three game series with a doubleheader on Thursday with game one beginning at 6:00 PM. The Captains will send RHP Kyle Blair (2-1, 3.78) in game one and RHP Cole Cook (1-4, 4.63) in game two. The games can be heard on AM 1330 WELW and on the internet at captainsbaseball.com.
Thirsty Thursdays, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR, will feature a dime beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and soda until 9 PM.
