Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits were able to hang on for a 3-2 win over the Peoria Chiefs on the road Wednesday night.
Though Peoria struck first with a run in the fourth, the River Bandits answered with single runs in the next three innings which proved to be all they would need. Kevin Siegrist (6-1) led the charge for the Bandits by allowing just one run over six innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter on his way to the win.
Offensively the River Bandits got a boost from Chris Edmondson (3-for-4) and Greg Garcia (3-for-4). Edmondson tied the game with a solo home run leading off the fifth innings. Johnathan Rodriguez also hit a solo shot in the sixth inning to put Quad Cities up for good.
The River Bandits scored all three runs off of Peoria reliever Robinson Lopez (3-1) who took the loss. Dallas Beeler started for the Chiefs but didn't record a decision after allowing just one hit over four shutout innings.
Justin Wright (2) picked up the save after retiring the game's final two batters after the Chiefs pulled within one in the ninth against Hector Corpus.
The River Bandits will go for their second series sweep of the season on Thursday when they send RHP Zach Russell (1-3, 5.67) to the mound against lefty Graham Hicks (0-2, 2.78). First pitch is set for 11:05 a.m.
