Edmonton, AB - The 2009 WHL Bantam Draft is taking place today at the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, AB.

The Medicine Hat Tigers are proud to select HUNTER SHINKARUK from Calgary, AB with their first pick of the draft, 14th overall.

Shinkaruk, 5' 10", 160 lbs played the 2008-09 season with the Calgary Royals AAA bantams picking up 32 goals and 31 assists for 63 point with 10 penalty minutes.

"We are very happy to select forward Hunter Shinkaruk with our first pick of 2009 WHL Bantam Draft," said Tigers' head scout Brad McEwen.

"Hunter is a real skilled player whom has a real good competitive level and fits into the Tigers mould," stated McEwen.
