Giants Acquire Strong from Bruins

VANCOUVER BC - The Vancouver Giants have acquired defenseman Matt Strong from the Chilliwack Bruins. In exchange, the Bruins will receive the Giants 8th Round Draft pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Strong, 19, from Calgary AB, is a 6'3", 212 pound right shooting defender. Last season, Strong played thirteen games for Chilliwack, scoring once and picking up nine penalty minutes. Over three seasons in the WHL with Everett, Red Deer and Chilliwack, Strong has played 92 games, scoring 2 goals and five assists for seven points while picking up 149 penalty minutes. 'Matt Strong provides us size and depth on the blue line,' comments Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. 'We look forward to Matt joining our organization.'
