Cougars Take Bourke in the Second Round

Prince George, BC - After going with a defenceman in the first round, the Prince George Cougars have taken a centre in the second round.

The Cougars have selected Spruce Grove, Alberta's Troy Bourke with the 26th overall pick in the WHL Bantam Draft. The Cougars get a player who had a tremendous 2008-09 season, in which he led the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League in scoring with 45 goals and 38 assists in 33 games, collecting 8 game winning goals. Bourke also won the AMBHL's MVP award. Bourke is a left handed shot that stands 5'10" and weighs 150 pounds.

"Troy is an exceptionally talented player that plays at both ends of the ice very well." Comments Cougars Edmonton area scout Bob Simmonds. "We were very surprised Troy was available at this point in the draft. He not only has a wealth of talent, but he's a great kid off the ice as well."
