
Tides Shut Out Friday Night as Memphis Ties Series

MEMPHIS, Tn. --- The Norfolk Tides (46-51) were shut out by the Memphis Redbirds (53-44), 5-0, Friday night at AutoZone Park. The series is now tied at 2-2.
Four of Memphis' runs came in the third inning. Ben DeLuzio hit a two-run single to take the original lead. DeLuzio would score on a pickoff throwing error by Tides starter Chris Vallimont. Luken Baker knocked in the final run of the inning with an RBI double.
One more run would score for the Redbirds in the fourth when Evan Mendoza hit an RBI groundout. That would put it the final score at 5-0.
Tomorrow the Tides have LHP Bruce Zimmermann (2-1, 5.04) making the start. Memphis will throw RHP Aaron Brooks (5-4, 5.71). First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
POSTGAME NOTES
STOWERS TOWERS: Going 2-for-4 tonight was Kyle Stowers...it was his 13th multi-hit effort, including four of his last five games...Stowers extended his hitting streak to five games, batting .455 (10-for-22) with four runs, a double, a triple, two home runs, and nine RBI.
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER: The Tides bullpen combined for 3.0 scoreless innings...Rico Garcia threw 2.0 scoreless innings while Logan Allen finished the game with a scoreless outing himself...On this road trip, the Tides bullpen has thrown an ERA of 5.71 (22 ER, 34.1 IP) while the starters have a 8.87 ERA (23 ER, 23.1 IP).
