Charlotte Knights News Release
(NASHVILLE, TN) - A three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning by Keston Hiura propelled the Nashville Sounds to a 4-2 win over the Charlotte Knights on Friday in game four of the six-game series from First Horizon Park in Nashville, TN. It was Nashville's fourth win of the series.
The Knights held onto a 2-1 lead over the Sounds into the eighth inning until the three-run blast from Hiura, which came off Charlotte reliever Yacksel Ríos (3-3, 5.06). The Charlotte right-handed pitcher allowed a leadoff walk to Brice Turang in the eighth and then walked Garrett Whitley. With two on and no outs, Hiura connected on his fifth home run of the season. Ríos was charged with the loss after the Knights failed to score in the ninth inning against Nashville reliever Trevor Kelley. He notched his sixth save of the season.
Charlotte LHP John Parke started the game and was solid over five innings. Parke, who threw just 80 pitches, allowed one run on five hits over five innings. He struck-out three batters and was in line for a win until the three-run eighth inning. He left the game with a 2-1 lead by the Knights.
The Knights scored two runs on Friday and did so by scoring a run in consecutive innings. Second baseman Yolbert Sánchez singled home the team's first run of the game in the fourth inning and center fielder Mark Payton added an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth inning.
The Sounds scored all four runs on home runs in game four on Friday. First baseman Jon Singleton put the team on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run, his 19th of the season.
RHP Dylan File (5-6, 4.58) earned the win out of the bullpen for Nashville. He allowed just two hits over three shutout innings.
The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Nashville Sounds from Nashville, TN on Saturday. First pitch on Saturday is set for 8:05 p.m. from First Horizon Park.
