ST. PAUL, MN - The Iowa Cubs (44-52) took game four in extras, beating the St. Paul Saints (45-50) by a score of 5-4, Friday at CHS Field.

As they did last night, Iowa jumped out to an early lead, getting a leadoff home run from Dixon Machado followed by a solo blast off the bat of Matt Mervis. St. Paul answered with a run of their own in the first on an RBI single from Curtis Terry to make it a 2-1 game.

The I-Cubs got the run right back in the second, when Erick Castillo knocked an RBI single to bring their lead back to two. With the two-run lead, Caleb Kilian went to work, not allowing another hit while striking out six batters in his four innings.

He was followed by Wyatt Short who walked two and struck out two over two scoreless, hitless innings to keep Iowa's lead intact. As they did last night, St. Paul mounted a late comeback, getting a two-run shot from Jermaine Palacios in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at three runs apiece.

Narciso Crook didn't let the tie last for long, hitting a solo home run in the eighth to give Iowa the lead back. Down to their final two outs, Palacios struck again with a solo home run to tie the game sending it into extras.

Iowa scored a run on a bases loaded wild pitch in their half of the inning and St. Paul loaded the bases, but Ben Leeper induced a game ending double play to take game four by a score of 5-4.
