Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder rebounded to defeat the Norfolk Admirals by a 4-1 final on Saturday evening in front of 4,323 fans at Cool Insuring Arena.
Forward Shane Conacher netted two goals, while forward Tim Harrison and defenseman Dylan Olsen each found the back of the net in the victory. Goaltender Drew Fielding made a season-high 45 saves as he earned his team-leading 15th victory of the season.
Adirondack opened the scoring 6:57 into the game as Olsen tallied his fifth goal of the season for the early 1-0 advantage. Forward Terrence Wallin won the puck behind the Norfolk net and sent it around the boards to Olsen, who one-timed his shot past Norfolk netminder Ty Reichenbach, who was screened on the play, for the game's first goal. Wallin and defenseman Desmond Bergin collected the assists on the play, Bergin's 25th of the season.
The Thunder struck twice more in the second period to take a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes. First, 3:25 into the middle stanza, Conacher took the puck through the neutral zone from right-to-left, entered the offensive end and beat Reichenbach through the five hole for his 13th goal of the season. The hosts increased their advantage to three goals just past the halfway mark of the second as defenseman Mathieu Brodeur skated down the right wing and hit Harrison in front for a tap-in goal. Harrison's marker was power-play goal, his eighth tally overall on the season.
Norfolk ended Fielding's shutout bid on its 37th shot of the evening as forward Christian Horn scored with 8:35 remaining in the game to cut the Adirondack lead to 3-1. Forward Patrick D'Amico sent a homerun pass to Horn down the right wing, where he cut towards the net and went to his backhand for the goal, his 11th tally of the season. D'Amico collected the lone assist on the play, his 18th assist of the season.
Despite a surge by the Admirals late in the third period, Fielding held firm for the rest of regulation before Conacher iced the game with an empty net tally from the neutral zone 11 seconds from the final buzzer. Forward Brian Ward tallied the lone assist on the play, his 19th of the season.
The Thunder are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they head to Worcester for a 3:00 p.m. faceoff against the Railers. Visit ECHLThunder.com or call 518-480-3355 x1 to get tickets for all upcoming Thunder home games.
