March 10, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-4 on Friday night, winning their fourth in a row and second straight in a shootout.
Vincent Arseneau scored twice for Allen, his 16th and 17th of the season. Casey Pierro-Zabotel broke his two-game scoring drought scoring with his 16th of the year and Zach Pochiro netted his 13th in the Allen victory.
"Coming back to tie the game in the third was big," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "We were good in the shootout which gave us the two points. Tomorrow night we have to play better in front of our net."
Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who scored the game winner in the shootout on Wednesday night, scored in the extra session for the second game in a row. Vincent Arseneau and Alex Guptill also scored. Guptill's goal was the game-winner for Allen.
"The Idaho win the other night gave us a boost of confidence," said Guptill. Getting the first two games on this tough road trip shows the type of team we have. We have a belief in our room that we're never out of a game."
Jake Paterson won his fourth straight game for Allen making some huge saves in the third period and overtime. With the victory, the Americans move past Tulsa into fourth place in the Mountain Division with a game in-hand.
The same two clubs meet tomorrow night at 8:05 pm. The Americans are 2-0 on the road trip with four games remaining.
