RABBIT TALES

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (20-32-6-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, return to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena tonight, fresh off a 3-2 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays. The team now turns its sights toward the Orlando Solar Bears (28-26-5-1) for the annual Heroes Night presented by Fluor. The club prepares to celebrate the local first responders, active military members, and veterans for their service to the community and country. Greenville has bested the Solar Bears in four of their six meetings. The last time the teams squared off was nearly a month ago when Greenville pulled out a 4-1 win on Jan. 12 at home.

EVAN ALMIGHTY

Greenville's leading scorer Evan Jasper stepped into his rookie season this year, carrying a pair of points in 11 games last season after his tenure at Sacred Heart University. Since then, the Whitby, Ontario native has catapulted to the top of Greenville's scoring chart with 44 points (18G, 26A) in 55 games. Last night was Jasper's 13th multi-point game this season, earning two goals and adding an assist against the South Carolina Stingrays. The 5-foot-10 winger has recorded six points (2G, 4A) in his last two games after being held off the board for five consecutive outings, his longest scoring drought of the season.

FIRST IS OUT OF THE WAY

J.T. Henke joined the Swamp Rabbits roster four games ago from Lake Superior State University but found the back of the net for the first time in North Charleston last night. The forward is now the sixth Greenville skater to notch his first professional goal with the Swamp Rabbits. The Trenton, Michigan native provided 29 goals for the Lakers in three collegiate seasons.

A BEAVER BECOMES A RABBIT

Greenville has added defenseman Carter Struthers to the roster from Bemidji State University. The 6-foot-5, 212-pound blue liner has been with the Beavers for the last five years but missed a pair of seasons due to injury. In his final two seasons Struthers recorded four points (1G, 3A) in 42 games. As a freshman, the Weyburn, Saskatchewan native suited up with current Greenville defenseman Matt Prapavessis. Before turning to the NCAA, Struthers recorded 47 points (11G, 36A) in 79 games with his hometown Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL.

BRANDON'S BACK

Netminder Brandon Halverson's return to the crease last night was his first start in a Greenville uniform since Jan. 19. The second-year pro stopped 35 shots in the victory as he earned his eighth win of the season. Halverson made his NHL Debut on Feb. 17 and saw action in five AHL games since his last stint in Greenville. In total, the netminder has made 906 saves between the ECHL, AHL and NHL levels. The Traverse City, Michigan native's outing on Friday night was the 14th time he has made at least 35 saves for Greenville this year.

CARROT BITES

Last season, Greenville earned a 5-2 victory on Heroes Night in front of a record breaking 8,742 fans.

The Swamp Rabbits power play ranks seventh in the ECHL with 47 goals (19.2%).

Orlando is the most penalized team in the Eastern Conference averaging over 18 PIMS per game.

Since Dawson Leedahl's return to the lineup three games ago, he and his line mates Evan Jasper and Joe Basaraba have combined for 13 points (4G, 9A).

The Solar Bears have only played two games away from home since Feb. 4 and are 7-3-0-0 in the last 10 games.
