Boise, ID (3/9/18) - Cole Ully's goal at 3:35 of overtime completed the comeback and gave the Idaho Steelheads (34-19-7) their first overtime win of the season with a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Mavericks (30-27-3) in front of a sell-out crowd of 5,180 fans on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Michael Bitzer made 17 saves in his professional debut between the pipes for the Steelheads to earn his first pro win.

Ully carried the puck over the Kansas City line on a 2-on-2 rush and drifted left across the high slot for a wrist shot over the shoulder of Adam Carlson, Ully's tenth goal of the season to give Idaho its 17th win of the year on home ice.

The Steelheads trailed 2-0 entering the third period, but Brady Brassart broke through for Idaho at 2:26 with a wrap-around for his 20th goal of the season. Justin Parizek's shot from the high slot was blocked, deflecting high in the air and landing behind the Mavericks net. Brassart got to it first and swung it to the front of the net, banking it off Carlson's pad and through his legs to make it 2-1 with Brassart's eleventh [AJ White, 3/9; Creative Expressions Photography] point in the past ten games.

Steve McParland earned an assist for the 100th point of his pro career.

The Steelheads kept the pressure on in the ensuing shift, with Joe Faust, Will Merchant, and Jefferson Dahl all ringing the post. Eric Sweetman's left point shot on the power play found its way through an AJ White screen at 10:45 to tie the game, making it 2-2 with his sixth goal of the season.

The Steelheads power play has converted in six of the last seven games.

The Mavericks struck twice in the second period to build their 2-0 lead. Troy Donnay beat Bitzer to the blocker side at 2:53 of the second period for his third goal of the season, entering the zone as the trailer for a Jordan Kwas feed. At 15:42, Matt Robertson made it 2-0 with his 17th of the year, tapping in the rebound of a Shawn Pauly breakaway attempt.

Ully's overtime winner was the first overtime goal scored by the Steelheads since New Year's Eve of last season, giving the Steelheads their seventh win of the season in a game in which they faced a two-goal deficit.

This was the third consecutive game at CenturyLink Arena to go beyond regulation, with the Steelheads falling in a shootout on Wednesday against Allen and winning a shootout over the Colorado Eagles on February 17th.

The Mavericks are unbeaten in regulation in their last four contests (3-0-1) and now have a two point lead over the Kalamazoo Wings for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Central Division.

The Steelheads and Mavericks face off again on Saturday night, their final meeting of the season, with puck-drop scheduled for 7:10pm MT. The game is available on 1350AM KTIK and seen on Cable One and ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME: Brady Brassart's wrap-around goal early in the third period ignited the Steelheads' comeback effort. With Idaho buzzing and trying to get pucks through, a blocked shot by Justin Parizek in the high slot deflected high in the air and landed behind the net. Players on both teams seemed unsure of where the puck was, but Brassart found it first and wrapped it to the front before goaltender Adam Carlson could get set, getting the Steelheads back into the game.
