Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY- The rosters for the 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game have been announced, and a trio of Tri-City ValleyCats have been selected to the National League squad.

LHP Chris Cotton, RHP Michael Feliz, and SS Chan Moon will represent the ValleyCats as All-Stars come August 13th at Dodd Stadium in Connecticut. Moon will start for the National League as the designated hitter. The South Korea native is hitting .308 in 91 at-bats this year, to go along with seven stolen bases. Amongst players on the current roster with at least 50 plate appearances, Moon leads the club in average and on-base percentage at .364.

Cotton and Feliz have been two of the best pitchers in the entire league this season. Cotton was the 14th round draft pick of the Astros this year out of LSU, and so far is 3-3 with a 1.33 ERA. In seven games, five of which were starts, the left-hander has allowed just four earned runs. Control has been key for Cotton, as he has issued just one walk as opposed to 19 strikeouts. Cotton's best outing came back on July 13th, when he threw five perfect innings on the road in Batavia to earn a victory.

Feliz is 3-2 with a 1.31 ERA, which is the second lowest mark in the league. His 44 strikeouts are the fifth most amongst all pitchers, while his WHIP of 0.94 places him sixth in the league. As a starter, Feliz has an ERA of 1.13, and has gone at least five innings in each of his six starts. Feliz, who is just 19 years old, was signed by Houston as a non-drafted free agent back in May of 2010.

The 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be held on August 13th in Norwich, CT at Dodd Stadium, the home of the Connecticut Tigers. The first pitch of the ninth annual league All-Star Game is set for 7:35 pm.
