Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (20-27) defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (20-26) by a score of 2-1 Sunday evening at Dodd Stadium. The Tigers scored two runs in the inning on an RBI single by CF Austin Schotts (1-4) and an RBI double by 2B Dominic Ficociello (2-4) that gave the Tigers an early 2-0 lead.

The Tigers avoided the three-game sweep behind a dominating performance by the Tigers pitching. The Tigers used five pitchers that combined for nine innings while allowing one run on four hits. Starter LHP Joe Mantiply pitched three scoreless innings. RHP Austin Pritcher relieved Mantiply and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing one run on two hits and struck out five batters.
