Thanasis Antetokounmpo Signs 10-Day Contract with New York Knicks
January 29, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks announced today that Thanasis Antetokounmpo has signed a 10-day contract with the New York Knickerbockers. Antetokounmpo is the NBA Development League's 15th overall GATORADE Call-Up this season and becomes the third call-up in team history, joining Langston Galloway (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 7, 2015) and Jimmer Fredette (called up to the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 10, 2015).
"Thanasis has been an integral member of the Westchester Knicks since the team's inaugural season," said Westchester Knicks general manager Allan Houston. "We're excited for him to get this opportunity with the New York Knicks, and I look forward to seeing him make the most of this time."
Antetokounmpo was a member of the Westchester Knicks' inaugural season roster in 2014-15. Tonight's game in Sioux Falls will signify the first-ever Westchester Knicks roster that does not feature Antetokounmpo. In 74 games for Westchester over two seasons, Antetokounmpo averaged 12.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 over 30.4 minutes per game.
Originally selected by the New York Knicks in the second round (51st overall) of the 2014 NBA draft, the 6-7, 215-pound forward from Greece attended training camp with the Knicks in 2015 before being waived on Oct. 23, 2015, returning to Westchester for the second straight season.
