Xavier Munford Named NBA D-League All-Star

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 29, 2016) - The NBA Development League today announced that Xavier Munford has been selected as a 2016 NBA D-League All-Star. A total of 24 top NBA Development League prospects, including 16 with NBA experience, have been selected to play in the 10th NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire. The game, which tips off at 11 a.m. PT at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 13, will air live on NBA TV and NBA TV Canada.
"I'm thankful and honored to be named an All-Star," said Munford. "It gives me the opportunity to showcase my talent and represent the Bakersfield Jam."
Appearing in 29 games (25 starts) for Bakersfield so far this season, Munford has averaged 21.3 points, 5.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 33.8 minutes per contest.
"Everyone here at the Jam is extremely happy and proud for Xavier," said Bakersfield Jam General Manager Bubba Burrage. "This all-star selection should prove as another step forward towards his promising future."
The Jam acquired Munford in a draft-day trade with the Maine Red Claws last season. He was originally Maine's third round draft pick (51st overall) in the 2014 NBA D-League Draft.
"It is great to see Xavier get rewarded for his play throughout the first half of the season," said Jam Head Coach Chris Jent. "He's played like an All-Star the entire season."
