Tanski Strikes in OT to Lift Orlando to 3-2 Victory over the Solar Bears

Orlando, FL - Forward Scott Tanski notched his eighth goal of the season 3:33 into overtime to lift the Solar Bears to a 3-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers in front of 9,170 fans at the Amway Center on Saturday night.

Wheeling started off the scoring 11:35 into the first period with a power play marker. F Peter Lenes took the puck up the left side and snapped a shot past G John Curry to give the Nailers a 1-0 lead. Orlando answered at 12:08 when F Rob Mignardi picked up a rebound off a shot from D Ryan Blair and slid the puck into the back of the cage, tying the game at 1-1. Just nine seconds later, Wheeling regained the lead then F Paul Crowder won the faceoff to F Scott Zurevinski, and Zurevinski found Lenes on the back door for a tap-in goal, helping the Nailers to a 2-1 lead going into the second period.

Late into the second period, the Solar Bears locked the game up at a 2-2 score. C Ryan Cruthers snapped a shot from the left wing and after an initial save from G Scott Darling, Cruthers was able to force the puck over the line with 2:35 left in the period.

The final 20 minutes was not enough to decide a winner, as the two sides went tied 2-2 into the sudden death period. With 3:33 left in overtime, D Derick Martin found F Scott Tanski at the top of the left circle who shot the puck into the back of the net giving the Solar Bears a 3-2 win over the Nailers.
