Stingrays Sign Forward Alex MacLeod

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has signed forward Alex MacLeod. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

MacLeod, 25, skated in 29 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) scoring six goals and nine assists for 15 points. Earlier this season, the Nelson, British Columbia, native skated in two preseason games with the Stingrays adding a goal. Currently in his first professional campaign, MacLeod attended Michigan Tech the past four years totaling 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 144 games. During the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, he was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team.

The Stingrays continue a seven-game homestand tonight, Saturday, January 19 against the Florida Everblades on Wounded Warriors Night presented by SAIC at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans receive a free Snuggie presented by the USO and SAIC.
