The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the eighth of 16 meetings this season and the third of eight at Sovereign Center. The Jackals are 2-3-2 this season against Reading after a 6-4 loss in their last meeting on January 5. The Jackals are looking for their first win of the season in Reading after dropping to 0-1-1 after the loss here on January 5. The Jackals have scored first in each of their first two trips to Reading and have out-scored the Royals 4-2 in the first period in this building. Despite winning two of the prior seven meetings, the Jackals have played the Royals close all season. Only a 7-4 Reading win on Dec. 7 was decided by more than two goals.
Dustin Gazley missed six games from late Nov. to mid-Dec. while dealing with an injury. He was held off the scoresheet when he returned for the Jackals' home game against Orlando on Dec. 14, but he bounced back to the tune of four assists the next night against Trenton and has been hard to contain since. The reigning rookie of the year has points in 14 of his last 17 games and had an eleven-game point streak (5G, 13A) through Wednesday. Thursday he was named an All-Star Game starter and is Elmira's sixth all-star in its history.
