Titans Get Hit by a Cyclone - Fall at Home, 4-0
January 19, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Titans News Release
The Cyclones (23-14-3-1, 50 pts) came out firing, and drew first blood on a Garrett Wilson power play goal with Tyler Hostetter in the box for slashing at 8:44. Wilson swept a rebound past Scott Wedgewood (12-12-2, 38 saves) for his first goal of the evening. Another power play goal from Wilson early in the second pushed the Cyclone lead to 2-0.
The Titans (16-18-3-2, 37 pts) came out firing in the third, earning the majority of the scoring chances in the final frame, though they still couldn't find the back of the net. Cincinnati's David MacDonald ended any hopes of a comeback with a late goal at 16:07, and Anthony Luciani added an empty netter to complete the scoring.
Michael Houser earned his first career professional shutout for the Cyclones, stopping 33 shots to improve to 5-3 on the year. The Titans have been shutout three times this season, and now twice in the month of January after a 5-0 loss at Wheeling on January 5th. Cincinnati held the advantage in shots, 42-33, and connected twice on four power play opportunities. The Titans were 0-for-7 with the man-advantage.
The Titans may have suffered another loss, as captain Andy Bohmbach - team leader in goals, assists, PPG and SHG - hit the ice hard late in the first after a big open-ice check by Cyclone (and former Titan) Andrew Conboy. He did not return to the game after skating off on his own power.
Trenton is now 0-2 against Cincinnati this season, but won't have to wait long for another shot at the Cyclones, as the teams are set for a matinee rematch tomorrow, a 3:05 pm meeting at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. All Titans games can be heard on the home of the Titans, 107.7 FM The Bronc, or online at 1077thebronc.com with the voice of the Titans, "The Bronc" Daryle Dobos.
