Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones have announced the signing of Shaun Garceau, a 6-foot-2, 218-pound right-handed pitcher from Palm Beach, Fla.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Garceau in the 20th round of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft out of Royal Palm Beach High School, at the age of 17.
Garceau's best season in the minor leagues came in 2008, when he posted an 8-4 record and a 3.42 ERA with high-A Palm Beach. Two years later, 2010, he reached double-A Springfield with the Cardinals' organization.
After struggling through 2010, Garceau ended up in 2011 with the York (Penn.) Revolution of the Independent Atlantic League. There, he helped lead the Revolution to their second straight Atlantic League championship. In 32 games, Garceau threw 119 innings, striking out 102 while walking just 45. He spent the early part of this season with the Revolution, pitching in three games without a decision.
Garceau, who will wear number 10, is scheduled to be in uniform tonight for the T-Bones as they open a three-game series against the Newark Bears at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
To make room for Garceau, the T-Bones placed infielder Beau Stoker on Irrevocable Waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. Also, the club announced that pitcher Matt Mitchell has been placed on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to June 10.
