Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG - The American Association announced today that Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Matt Rusch has been named the American Association's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 10.

Rusch, 29, pitched 15 scoreless innings and went 2-0 in two starts against the Lincoln Saltdogs and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks last week. On Tuesday in Lincoln, Rusch shutout the Saltdogs for seven innings, allowing just five hits and striking out five. He was even better yesterday in Fargo, as he struck out nine RedHawks and surrendered just three hits through eight innings.

In five starts this season, Rusch is 3-0 and his 1.72 ERA is the second-best in the American Association. The Goldeyes are also 5-0 when he starts.

The Goldeyes have claimed the last two pitcher of the week honours after Ace Walker won the award last week.

Winnipeg is back home tonight to start a three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

Fans looking to purchase season tickets, nine-game mini packs and individual game tickets for the 2012 season can call the Goldeyes office at 982-BASE (2273), visit the Shaw Park box office or click on Ticketmaster.ca.
