Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS - Sioux Falls Pheasants outfielder Cristian Guerrero has been named the Pointstreak Batter of the Week for June 4-10, the American Association announced on Monday. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

In six games, Guerrero went on an incredible power tear. He batted 10-for-26 (.385) with five home runs and seven RBI. Guerrero tied a team record by hitting a homer in four consecutive games from June 4 - 8. He homered in five of six games and hit safely in all six contests. He also collected a double and scored seven runs. He leads the league with eight round-trippers.

"We knew Cristian was capable of this kind of production when we brought him here, so it's no surprise," Pheasants manager Steve Shirley said. "He deserves this recognition, and the guys on the team really look up to him for his hard work and leadership."

Guerrero is the first Pheasant to earn this award this season.

The Pheasants begin a home-and-away series against the Sioux City Explorers at 6:05 p.m. tonight with the completion of a suspended May 19 game followed by a seven-inning game. The Pheasants are in Sioux City again on Tuesday and host the series finale at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Pheasants' box office or online at www.sfpheasants.com. All games are broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM, KWSN and www.kwsn.com.
