Sioux City 15, Sioux Falls 0 (Completion of Suspended Game from May 19)

It was all Sioux City in this one as the Explorers win easily over the Sioux Falls Pheasants, 15-0. Sioux City LF Yusuke Inoguchi went 4-for-6 with a run scored and three RBI while 3B Wally Backman, C Ray Serrano and DH Adrian Martinez went a combined 8-for-12 at the plate with nine runs scored and two RBI. Explorers starting pitcher Alain Quijano picked up where he left off in the suspended game as he tossed a complete game allowing seven hits while fanning seven batters.

Sioux City 8, Sioux Falls 6 (Regularly Scheduled Game - 7 Innings)

Sioux City held off a furious charge at the end from the Sioux Falls Pheasants to win the regularly scheduled game, 8-6. The Explorers held a comfortable 8-0 lead entering the sixth inning only to see Sioux Falls score one in the sixth and five more in the seventh to cut the lead to two. Sioux City closer Chris Bodishbaugh came in to get the last out and preserve the win. Explorers RF Michael Lang went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI and RF Brandon Newton, 1B Kris Sanchez and C Ray Serrano each chipped in with two hits apiece. Sioux City starting pitcher Ty Marotz was the winner as he went 6 2/3 innings allowing six runs, only one earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Grand Prairie 2, Laredo 1 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

The Grand Prairie AirHogs hold off a late rally by the Laredo Lemurs as they take game one of a doubleheader by a 2-1 score. Grand Prairie scored single runs in the third and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning. Laredo would get the bases loaded in the seventh and scored their lone run on a walk to SS Jimmy Mojica. Grand Prairie SS Yasutsugu Nishimoto went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI and C Chris McMurray scored the other run and went 1-for-2.

Grand Prairie 7, Laredo 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

Grand Prairie completes the doubleheader sweep as the AirHogs down the Laredo Lemurs, 7-1. Grand Prairie SS Yasutsugu Nishimoto had another great game as he went a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. In the two games, Nishimoto went 5-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI. AirHogs reliever Derrick Miramontes was the winner as he tossed a scoreless inning allowing only a walk. DH Javier Brito had two hits in the loss for Laredo.

Winnipeg 4, Lincoln 0

Winnipeg's pitching trio of Fabian Williamson, Craig James and Kaohi Downing combined on a four-hit shutout as the Goldeyes blanked the Lincoln Saltdogs, 4-0. The starting pitcher, Williamson, was terrific as he went 6 2/3 innings allowing three hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters. James and Downing finished off the game allowing only a hit over the last 2 1/3 innings. Winnipeg LF Jon Weber went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. C Luis Alen also had a home run in a three-hit night for Winnipeg.

Gary SouthShore 6, Wichita 0

The Gary SouthShore RailCats pitching staff turned in a terrific performance as they shutout the Wichita Wingnuts, 6-0. RailCats starter Morgan Coombs along with relievers Chuck Lukanen and Nolan Nicholson combined to allow the Wingnuts only two hits on the night. Coombs went 6 2/3 innings giving up one hit and two walks while striking out three batters. Lukanen gave up a hit and a walk in 1 1/3 innings while Nicholson shut the door in the ninth to finish the game. Gary SouthShore 1B Mike Rohde went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Kansas City 7, Newark 4

Kansas City rallied from behind to beat the Newark Bears, 7-4. The T-Bones scored two in the first inning and one in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Bears would answer in the seventh as they tallied four runs to take a 4-3 advantage. Kansas City would fight back as they scored two runs without the benefit of a hit in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead at 5-4 and would add two more insurance runs in the eighth to win, 7-4. RF Ray Sadler was the big hitter for the T-Bones as he went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Kansas City starting pitcher Brian Grening improved to 3-2 on the season as he went eight innings allowing two earned runs on five hits.

St. Paul 7, Fargo-Moorhead 6 (11 innings)

2B Jon Townsend doubles home the game winning run with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning as the St. Paul Saints complete the comeback and defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 7-6. Townsend went 2-for-4 on the night with a RBI while 3B Ronnie Bourquin chipped with a home run and drove in two runs. Fargo-Moorhead would run out to a 6-1 lead after only three innings. The Saints then came back and scored two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning to tie the score at 6-6. There would be no more scoring again until the 11th as Townsend doubled home RF Jose Hernandez with the winning run.

Amarillo 10, El Paso 5

The top of the order leads the way as the Amarillo Sox double up the El Paso Diablos, 10-5. The 1-2-3 hitters of SS Jason White, LF Matthew Tucker and 2B Jake Opitz combined to go 6-for-15 at the plate with five runs scored and seven RBI. 3B Van Pope also had three hits and scored two runs. Sox starting pitcher Ryan Mitchell won his third game of the season as he allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts. In the loss for El Paso, SS Maikol Gonzalez, RF JJ Muse and LF Derrick Pyles each had two hits.
