Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch fell 4-1 to the Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Crunch goaltender Cedrick Desjardins stopped 23 of 26 shots as the Crunch fall to 9-5-1-1 on the season. Bulldogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 25 saves to improve the Bulldogs record to 8-7-0-3.
The Crunch penalty kill unit was perfect, not allowing any goals on three Bulldogs man-advantages. Syracuse was unable to convert on three power-play opportunities, making this the third game in a row they failed to score on the man-advantage.
The Bulldogs took the lead 15:55 into the first period. Former Crunch forward, Mike Blunden, one-timed a shot from the left circle past Desjardins to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission. Gabriel Dumont and Jarred Tinordi were credited with the assists.
Hamilton extended their lead 11:00 minutes into the second with a goal by Morgan Ellis off assists from Martin St. Pierre and Erik Nystrom. Dumont added to the Bulldog's lead when he found the back of the net two minutes later with a shot from the left circle. Blunden picked up his second of three points with the assist. The Crunch trailed the Bulldogs 3-0 after two periods of play.
J.P. Cote extended his point-streak to six games when he scored the Crunch's only goal at 15:13 mark of the third period. Cote was assisted by Tanner Richard and Philippe Paradis. The Bulldogs brought the final score to 4-1 when Blunden scored on an empty net with one minute left in the third period.
The Crunch will rematch the Bulldogs tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial.
