Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Stockton G Tim Boron made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season to lead the Stockton Thunder to a 4-0 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 5,517 fans at Stockton Arena Friday night. The Condors will get their chance at a rematch Saturday night in Stockton at 7:30 p.m.
The Condors (12-22-8, 32 points) had their chances early but Boron was sharp, denying F Sean Venedam on two point-blank shots in the opening minutes. That enabled the Thunder (19-22-2, 40 points) to open the scoring, lighting the lamp twice in the first. C Geoff Paukovich and C Brandon Schwartz both scored to give Stockton a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes.
Stockton extended the lead with a power play goal in the second stanza. RW Ryan MacMurchy netted his team-leading 16th goal of the season at 9:03 on the power play, making it 3-0. Shots on goal were 9-9 in the period.
Boron completed the shutout with a seven-save third period, as Stockton kept the pressure in the Condors zone most of the frame. They padded the lead with the first of the season by RW Tim Verbeek at 10:33. The Condors were outshot on the night 41-25, and G Michel Robinson finished with 37 saves.
