Zaba, Steelheads Blank RoadRunners 3-0

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Lance Galbraith tallied a goal and added two assists, and rookie goalie Matt Zaba turned aside all 28 shots he faced to collect his first professional shutout as the Idaho Steelheads blanked the Phoenix RoadRunners 3-0 before 4,177 at US Airways Center in ECHL action Saturday.

Idaho (25-14-7) out-shot Phoenix (16-24-6) 31-17 through two periods, but neither team could find the back of the net.

Marty Flichel snapped the scoreless tie 2:34 into the third when John Lammers found the Steelheads' captain wide open in the slot, and Flichel snapped the puck over the right shoulder of RoadRunners' goalie Cody Rudkowsky. Galbraith added to the lead minutes later with a power play goal from the right-wing circle at 7:28 beating Rudkowsky along the ice for a 2-0 advantage. Taggart Desmet scored an empty-net power play goal at 19:22 to complete the Idaho attack.

Idaho out-shot Phoenix 40-29. Rudkowsky stopped 37 shots but fell to 9-16-3 on the year. The RoadRunners went 0-4 on the power play while Idaho was 2-6 with the man-advantage.

Notes: Defenseman Brett Angel made his RoadRunners' debut. Angel was re-assigned to the club from Norfolk of the American Hockey League prior to the game...The RoadRunners were shutout for the fifth time this season...Peder Skinner's career-best eight-game scoring streak came to an end.

The RoadRunners continue their five-game home-stand at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday as they open a two-game series with the Las Vegas Wranglers at US Airways Center.
