STOCKTON, Calif. - Goaltender Tim Boron stopped 25 shots for his third career shutout, a new Stockton Thunder (19-22-2, 40 points) single season record, to lift the Thunder to a 4-0 win over the Bakersfield Condors before 5,517 at Stockton Arena on Friday night.

The Thunder snapped a four-game losing streak and picked up its first win in the post all-star break schedule, led by Brandon Schwartz's "Gordie Howe Hat Trick," collecting a goal, assist and a third period fight with Condor forward Evan Kotsopolous.

The Thunder roared out of the gates with a 2-0 lead through one period on goals by Geoff Paukovich and Schwartz. Paukovich scored his ninth of the year for the first goal of the game with 9:01 gone in the first period, re-directing Andy Contois' pass from the right circle through the legs of Bakersfield goaltender Michel Robinson while on the doorstep.

Boron stopped nine shots in the first period, including a point-blank chance on Sean Venedam in the early stages of the period.

Schwartz hiked the lead to 2-0 on his ninth goal of the season with 2:09 left in the period, burying a rebound past a sprawling Robinson after Contois was denied on a break.

Ryan MacMurchy put the Thunder up 3-0 with a highlight-reel goal at the 9:02 mark of the second period. MacMurchy corralled a feed from Schwartz at the center-ice red line, juked by Condors defenseman Kevin Truelson at the left circle, deked to the forehand and beat Robinson past the glove side.

Boron kept the Condors blanked with nine more saves in the second period.

Tim Verbeek scored his first goal of the season to push the Thunder lead to 4-0 at the third period's 10:33 mark, burying a one-timer on a feed from Pat Bateman from the right circle. Boron sealed up the victory with seven saves on the Condors in the third period.

NOTES: The Thunder missed the services of Beau Geisler (injured reserve), Ryan Geris (injury) and Adam Huxley (injury) ... the Thunder improved to 9-7-6 all-time against Bakersfield and is 3-3-0 in the season series ... the Thunder kept Bakersfield blanked on five power-play chances and has stopped the Condors on all 32 man-advantage chances this year.

The Thunder returns tomorrow with a 7:30 p.m. home game against the Bakersfield Condors from Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live exclusively online (video and audio available) at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
