Stingrays Sign Luke Popko

South Carolina Stingrays News Release


North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that forward Luke Popko has signed with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Popko, 22, joins the Stingrays after appearing in three games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL scoring no points. Currently in his first professional season, the Skillman, NJ native spent four years at Boston University netting 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points in 159 games. Before attending Boston, Popko was a member of the U.S. National Development program earning 17 points (7g, 10a) in 60 games and helped Team USA capture the gold medal in the 2006 U-18 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship.

The Stingrays return home on Tuesday, November 16 as the Greenville Road Warriors visit the North Chaleston Coliseum for the first time in team history at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the action LIVE at 1340 The Boardwalk and www.stingrayshockey.com .
