Road Warriors Close Gap In South Division

Sweeping three games against South Division rival Florida, the Greenville Road Warriors moved into second place in the division with an overall record of 7-3-1 for 15 points.

Greenville got off to a quick start in the first game of the series on Thursday scoring four goals in the opening period before holding on for a 5-4 win. Rookie Marc-Olivier Vallerand paced the Road Warriors' offense with a goal and two assists while Nic Riopel made 31 saves to record the win in net.

Ten Road Warriors tallied at least one point in Friday's 6-3 win over the Everblades. Brendan Connolly scored two goals and Shane Harper picked up three assists in the win. Goaltender Dov Grumet-MorrisDov Grumet-Morris turned aside 29 Florida shots to pick up his first win of the season.

Connolly added two more goals in the series finale on Saturday and Riopel earned his first professional shutout making 32 saves in a 3-0 win.

Mark Voakes leads Greenville in scoring with 12 points (4g-8a) while Connolly leads the team with seven goals. Riopel is tied for the ECHL lead among goaltenders with six wins and is off to a strong start in his first professional season with a 6-2-1 record, a 2.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .918.

Dean Stork is in his first season as Road Warriors' head coach, but is no stranger to success coming to the team from Cincinnati where he was an assistant coach for the previous four seasons, and helping to lead the Cyclones to Kelly Cup championships in 2008 and 2010.

Greenville has played nine of its first 11 games at the BI-LO Center, which was home to the ECHL's Greenville Grrrowl from 1998-2006. The Road Warriors play four games in six days this week traveling to South Carolina to battle the Stingrays on Tuesday before returning home for a pair of games against Wheeling on Thursday and Friday. Greenville closes the week on Sunday with a home match-up against the South Division leading Gwinnett Gladiators.

Goldie On Verge Of Reaching 300-Goal Plateau

With a goal on Sunday against Ontario, Alaska's Wes Goldie moved into a tie with ECHL Hall of Famer Darryl Noren for seventh place in league history with 295 goals. Goldie needs five more goals to become just the seventh player in the 23-year history of the ECHL to reach the 300-goal plateau.

The last player to reach the 300-goal mark was Louis Dumont who scored his 300th goal with Mississippi during the 2004-05 season. ECHL Hall of Famer Rod Taylor holds the league's all-time record with 368 goals in 678 games with Hampton Roads, Richmond, Roanoke, South Carolina, Peoria and Toledo. Dumont is tied for second with Trevor Jobe with 325 goals each. Darren Colbourne is fourth with 323 goals while Sheldon Gorski rounds out the top five with 316. The only other member of the 300-goal club is Darren Schwartz who is sixth all-time with 313 goals.

Goldie is 11th in ECHL history with 567 games played. He is 14 games away from tying Dmitri Tarabrin for 10th on the all-time list.

Divisions

Atlantic Division

Elmira Jackals

The Jackals have 18 power-play goals which ranks first in the league.

Justin Donati and Michael Dubuc are first and second in the league with 21 and 20 points respectively.

The Jackals travel to Trenton on Saturday and Reading on Sunday.

Reading Royals

Matt Caruana is on a seven-game point streak (8g-3a).

Ben Gordon and Andrew Sarauer lead the team with 10 assists each.

Reading is at Trenton on Wednesday and hosts the Devils on Friday and Elmira on Sunday.

Trenton Devils

The Devils lead the league with 37.89 shots per game.

Trevor Kell leads the team with 10 points (5g-5a).

The Devils host Reading on Wednesday, visit Reading on Friday and host Elmira on Saturday.

North Division

Cincinnati Cyclones

Over his last four appearances, Marc Cheverie is 4-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average.

The Cyclones have outscored their opponents 9-5 this season in the final 10 minutes of regulation.

The Cyclones host Kalamazoo on Tuesday and Friday.

Kalamazoo Wings

Kalamazoo is 6-0-1 when scoring three or more goals.

Kory Karlander is second in the league with 12 assists.

The K-Wings visit Cincinnati on Tuesday and Friday.

Toledo Walleye

Toledo set a season high with eight goals in Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Peter Leblanc is tied for first among rookies with 10 points (3g-7a).

Toledo plays at Florida on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Wheeling Nailers

Ben Street leads rookies in shots with 58.

David Marshall leads the team with six goals.

The Nailers visit Greenville Thursday and Friday and South Carolina on Sunday.

South Division

Florida Everblades

Florida ranks second in the league on the penalty kill at 87.5 percent (56-for-64).

Mitch Fadden leads the team with 17 points (6g-11a).

The Everblades host Toledo on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Greenville Road Warriors

Greenville leads the league with six players who average at least one point per game

Goaltender Nic Riopel is tied for the league lead with six victories.

Greenville visits South Carolina Tuesday, hosts Wheeling Friday and Saturday and hosts Gwinnett Sunday.

Gwinnett Gladiators

The Gladiators are tied for the league lead with 19 points (8-2-3).

Billy Sauer is fourth in the league with a .927 save percentage.

Gwinnett is at South Carolina on Friday and Saturday and at Greenville on Sunday.

South Carolina Stingrays

Pierre-Luc O'Brien is on a five-game point scoring streak with seven points (3g-4a).

Rob Ricci leads the team with six goals.

The Stingrays host Greenville on Tuesday, Gwinnett on Friday and Saturday and Wheeling on Sunday.

Mountain Division

Alaska Aces

Chris Langkow has 10 points (4g-6a), tying him for a share of the ECHL rookie lead.

Alaska is second in ECHL with 2.25 goals-against per game.

Aces play at Utah on Friday and Saturday.

Idaho Steelheads

Kael Mouillierat has six goals in his last four games.

Eight of Idaho's 13 games this season have been decided by one goal.

Idaho is at Stockton on Thursday and Saturday.

Utah Grizzlies

Brad Snetsinger had six points (4g-2) in three games last week.

Grizzlies went 5-2-1 on their season-long eight-game road trip.

Utah hosts Alaska on Friday and Saturday.

Victoria Salmon Kings

Milan Gajic leads the Salmon Kings with 14 points (6g-8a).

Victoria is 6-2-0 when scoring first.

Salmon Kings are at Bakersfield on Wednesday and Saturday, play at Ontario on Friday and are at Stockton on Sunday.

Pacific Division

Bakersfield Condors

Mark Magnowski scored his first professional goal on Saturday.

The Condors opened up an 8-game homestand this past week, and will host five more games over the next two weeks.

Bakersfield hosts Victoria on Wednesday and Saturday and Las Vegas on Friday.

Las Vegas Wranglers

Ned Lukacevic (3g-5a) and Vince Bellissimo (4g-3a) are each on 5-game point streaks

The Wranglers are on a season high four-game winning streak.

Las Vegas is at Bakersfield on Friday and at Ontario on Saturday.

Ontario Reign

Jeff Corey has four points (3g-1a) in his last three games.

Ontario is 3-0-1 when leading after two periods.

Reign host Victoria on Friday and Las Vegas on Saturday.

Stockton Thunder

Chris D'Alvise is tied for second in the league with 10 goals.

Stockton leads the ECHL with 22 goals in the third period.

Thunder host Idaho on Thursday and Saturday and Victoria on Sunday.
