Stingrays Receive Defenseman Steve Spinell, Goaltender David LeNeveu from Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team received defenseman Steve Spinell and goaltender David LeNeveu from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Spinell, 23, appeared in three contests with the Bruins this season recording no points. A rookie this season, the Vernon Hills, Illinois, native buried six points (one goal, five assists) in 27 games with the Stingrays. Prior to turning pro, Spinell completed a four-year collegiate career at Miami University (Ohio) totaling 36 points (4 goals, 32 assists) in 149 games and served as team captain his senior year.

LeNeveu, 30, did not appear in a game with the Bruins and dressed in six games with the Stingrays this season earning a 3-3-0 record, 1.85 goals-against average, .933 save percentage and two shutouts. Over a nine-year North American professional career, the Fernie, British Columbia, native skated in 307 American Hockey League games with the Utah Grizzlies, Springfield Falcons, San Antonio Rampage, Hartford Wolf Pack, Iowa Chops and Oklahoma City Barons picking up a 121-149-26 record with a 2.78 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. Last season, LeNeveu dressed in 30 games with Linz EHC in Austria.
