Eagles' Rally Falls Short as Condors Win 2-1

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (18-8-3-2) fell to the Bakersfield Condors (12-16-0-1), 2-1, at the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday night. The Eagles and the Condors split the two-game series with each team winning one game. Bakersfield defenseman George Hughes opened the scoring when he found the back of the net on a Condor power play, just 4:22 into the first frame to give Bakersfield the early 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would answer 6:22 into the second period as forward Trent Daavettila continued his 13-game point streak to tie the game 1-1.

Less than one minute into the final stanza, Condors forward Chris Collins netted a goal right off of a face-off to gain the 2-1 advantage. Eagles goaltender Marc Cheverie stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced while Bakersfield netminder Tyler Bunz held off 35 of the 36 Colorado shots to help the Condors secure the 2-1 win. The Eagles go head-to-head in a two-game series, with the Idaho Steelheads, at the Budweiser Events Center on January 10 and 11.
