
Peter Boyd's Hat Trick and David LeNeveu's Shutout Lead Stingrays Over Road Warriors

North Charleston, S.C. - Forward Peter Boyd scored all three goals and goaltender David LeNeveu made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season to propel the South Carolina Stingrays (24-6-1-2) over the Greenville Road Warriors (14-15-2-1) 3-0 in front 6,656 on Darius Rucker Night at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening.
Boyd opened the scoring 3:39 into the contest tucking a wraparound chance inside the left post of Road Warriors goaltender Scott Stajcer (L, 25 saves on 27 shots) for his 10 goal of the season. Forward Steve Mele picked up the lone assist.
In the third period, Boyd made it 2-0 on the power play blasting a pass from forward Paul Rodrigues past Stajcer from the right-wing circle. Defenseman Luka Vidmar added the second assist. With 48 seconds remaining, Boyd sealed the victory with an empty-net tally with help from forward Igor Gongalsky . The Stingrays went 1-for-2 on the power play while the Road Warriors finished 0-for-3.
The Stingrays return to action Tuesday, January 7 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum for 2x2 Tuesday presented by Bud Light . Enjoy $2 beer all game and 2-for-1 tickets at the Coliseum Box Office!
