Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (12-16-3-1) complete their five-game set with the Stockton Thunder (16-11-0-4), tonight, at the Cow Palace. This is the eighth of 15 meetings between these clubs this season. The Bulls hold the edge in the season series, nine points to seven.
Last night, in game four of the series, San Francisco beat the Thunder, 4-2. They traded goals in the first, and entered the third period in a 1-1 stalemate. The Bulls came out of the second intermission strong, and stormed ahead with three goals in the period. Jordan Morrison had the game-winner. Tyler Gron had two goals, and a three-point night. Eriks Sevcenko impressed in his debut, notching three points (1g, 2a). Brett Findlay, Steven Tarasuk (3), Mark Lee, and Dean Ouellet registered assists. Tyler Beskorowany made 30 saves, earning his 11th win.
As has been the case since he arrived in San Francisco, Gron's torrid pace continued last night. With his three points yesterday, he now has an eight-game point streak, and a four-game goal streak. Those are tied for the eighth and seventh longest streaks in the league this season respectively. He has compiled 25 points (14g, 11a) in his first 16 games with the Bulls, failing to register a point just once. His 17 total goals lead the team, and is second in the ECHL.
In a bit of good news for San Francisco, Stockton forward Corey Trivino has been loaned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL. However, they will still need to keep an eye on rookie standout Greg Miller. Despite having only played 19 games, Miller has cracked into the top 20 scoring leaders among rookies. He has 15 points (6g, 9a) on the season. Seven of those points have come in six games against the Bulls.
San Francisco is in sixth place in the Western Conference with 28 points. They are three points in front of the Bakersfield Condors and Utah Grizzlies. Stockton is tied with the Idaho Steelheads for fourth place in the Western Conference with 36 points. They are three points behind the Alaska Aces.
Tonight the Bulls are celebrating their second annual Country Western Night. The first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a foam cowboy hat, courtesy of Recology.
Tomorrow San Francisco hits the road again when they head to Ontario, California, to face off with the Reign. It will be their third game in three days, in three different cities. The matinee games begins at 3:00 pm.
