
Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays Celebrate Darius Rucker Night Tonight vs. Road Warriors

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays celebrate Darius Rucker Night tonight against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum. Tonight is the eighth of 16 meetings between the two teams this season. Listen to all the action LIVE at StingraysHockey.com on America One and inside the Coliseum at 87.8 FM !
Darius Rucker, the Country-music star and co-founder of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish, will sing the National Anthem and drop the ceremonial first puck. The first 2,000 fans receive a Darius Rucker bobblehead honoring his roots to the Lowcountry, Click here to view a special message from Darius Rucker. Parking is free!
Rucker, who attended Middleton High School in West Ashley and helped form the world-famous rock band Hootie & the Blowfish while attending the University of South Carolina, is a Grammy (Hootie & the Blowfish) and Country Music Association (solo) award winner. Throughout his career, Rucker and his bands sold over 20 million albums and on October 16, 2012, he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Last August, Stingrays President Rob Concannon presented Rucker with a custom #13 Stingrays jersey, in honor of his friend and favorite athlete, NFL legend Dan Marino, and a bobblehead during the presentation of Darius Rucker Boulevard in the Montague Terrace at the Coliseum. Concannon also announced initial plans for Darius Rucker Night featuring the bobblehead giveaway. The Stingrays return to action Tuesday, January 7 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum for 2x2 Tuesday presented by Bud Light . Enjoy $2 beer all game and 2-for-1 tickets at the Coliseum Box Office!
