San Francisco Bulls News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls (12-16-3-1) scored three third-period goals to pull ahead of the Stockton Thunder (16-11-0-4) for a 4-2 final, Friday Night at Stockton Arena. Tyler Gron scored twice and Eriks Sevcenko, in his ECHL debut, and Steven Tarasuk had three-point nights. Tyler Beskorowany had 30 saves in the win.
Gron got the Bulls on the board first with a power play goal. San Francisco peppered Brian Foster with shots in rapid succession, before Gron got one past him. The tally came with 4:02 remaining in the first period. Sevcenko and Brett Findlay registered assists on the play. With 1:15 remaining the Thunder responded. Matt Bergland scored on a shot from the slot. He received helpers from Garet Hunt and Sean Escobedo. Through 20 minutes the game stood at a 1-1 stalemate.
The second period was a quiet one. Both squads had scoring chances, but neither side could break the 1-1 tie. In the period, Stockton out-shot San Francisco, 10-7.
The third period was dominated by San Francisco. Sevcenko broke the tie with his first career ECHL goal at 5:25. Steven Tarasuk and Mark Lee registered assists on the 5-on-3 power play score. Just 1:35 later, still on a power play, Morrison tipped a Sevcenko shot by Foster to make it a 3-1 game. Tarasuk added an assist on the play. From there, the Thunder tried to mount a comeback. They reduced their deficit to one on a tally from Landon Oslanski with 5:56 left in the game. They continued to pepper Beskorowany with shots, but he stood tall. With 53 seconds left Gron scored his second of the night, an empty netter, to secure the win.
Tomorrow the Bulls are back at home to wrap up their five-game set with the Thunder. San Francisco will be celebrating their second annual Country Western Night. The first 1,000 fans receive a foam cowboy hat, courtesy of Recology. The game begins at 7:30 pm.
