ECHL Announces Fines, Suspensions

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Saturday announced the following fines and suspensions.

Kalamazoo's Ftorek fined, suspended

Kalamazoo's Sam Ftorek has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #326, Cincinnati at Kalamazoo, on Jan. 3.

Ftorek was assessed a major penalty for boarding under Rule #41.3 at 14:46 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Ftorek will miss Kalamazoo's games against Toledo (Jan. 4) and at Fort Wayne (Jan. 5).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Ontario's Couture fined, suspended

Ontario's Derek Couture has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #333, Ontario at Las Vegas, on Jan. 3.

Couture was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking under Rule #59.2 at 7:52 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Couture will miss Ontario's games at Las Vegas (Jan. 4) and vs. San Francisco (Jan. 5).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Las Vegas' Irwin fined, suspended

Las Vegas' Geoff Irwin has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #333, Ontario at Las Vegas, on Jan. 3.

Irwin was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding under Rule #41.5 at 20:00 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Irwin will miss Las Vegas' games against Ontario (Jan. 4) and at Utah (Jan. 7 and Jan. 8).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Orlando's Tanski fined

Orlando's Scott Tanski has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #327, Utah at Orlando, on Jan. 3.

Tanski is fined under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline for an unpenalized hit at 6:18 of the first period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.
