Stingrays Receive Defenseman Chris Casto from Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has received defenseman Chris Casto from the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Currently in his first full professional season, Casto, 21, dressed in 12 games with the Bruins this season netting a goal and an assist for two points. The Stillwater, Minnesota, native appeared in four games with the Bruins last season, adding no points, after completing a two-year collegiate career at the University of Minnesota - Duluth where he buried 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists) in 77 contests. Casto signed an entry-level contract with the Stingrays' National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Boston Bruins, on March 26, 2013.

The Stingrays wrap up a six-game road trip tonight, Friday, December 13 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, December 14 to take on the Solar Bears at 7:05 p.m. on College Night and Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Debi's Kids.

The Stingrays will wear special Clemson University jerseys and auction them LIVE after the contest. Charleston native and "Survivor: One World" finalist Chelsea Meissner will drop the ceremonial first puck. Bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to the game to throw on the ice after the Stingrays score their first goal for the annual Teddy Bear Toss!
