
Bakersfield Holds on 4-3 over Utah

Bakersfield, California - The Bakersfield Condors held on to defeat the Utah Grizzlies 4-3 Friday night at Rabobank Arena.
Utah fell behind 1-0 6:18 into the first period on Spencer Bennett's first of the year, but tied things up 2:36 later on David Vallorani's fourth goal of the season as Martin Lee fed him on the power-play.
Bakersfield made it 2-1 46 seconds into the second period and tallied two goals in 25 seconds from 12:17 to 12:42 to quickly make it 4-1.
Utah made it a game going to the third as Michael Pelech tipped in a Martin Lee shot with 5:54 left in the second period as Mathieu Aubin picked up an assist.
With 4:28 left in the third Danick Paquette and Brent Gwidt battled to keep the puck in and Gwidt scored on his second chance of the shift as he turned around and fired at close range for his third goal of the year.
Utah outshot Bakersfield 40-22 in the game, including 17-8 in the first and 14-4 in the third. All Bakersfield goals came on odd-man rushes.
Ben Meisner takes the loss in goal for Utah stopping 18 of 22 shots.
Utah and Bakersfield meet again Saturday at 8:10 p.m. before the Grizzlies head to Alaska next week.
The Grizzlies return to Maverik Center Saturday, December 28 and Tuesday, December 31 at 6 p.m. December 28 is a post-game skate with the Grizzlies. For New Year's Eve, fans can take advantage of $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks and $2 Draft Beers.
