Atlanta Gladiators News Release

DULUTH, Ga. - Tonight at 7:05 p.m. the Gladiators (6-14-0-2) host the South Carolina Stingrays (16-2-1-2) on night one of Sing for Santa Weekend. Gwinnett is 1-4 against the ECHL-leading Rays this season, but beat South Carolina in their last meeting 6-4 in North Charleston on November 19th.

Last Weekend:

On the first Friday of December, Gwinnett fell behind to Kalamazoo 2-0 at the end of the first, but thanks to Kurtis Bartliff's team leading eighth goal of the season, and Mike Embach's two goals, the Glads were able to chip back and bring the game into overtime and then the shootout. Gwinnett matched Kalamazoo goal for goal until the fifth round, when Eric Kattelus gave the K-Wings the 4-3 win.

The day after goaltender Louis Domingue was called up to Portland in the AHL, Peter Delmas answered the call, and was barraged with 53 shots against a pesky Road Warriors squad. Again Embach made the game competitive with a last minute goal, but Greenville scored an empty netter 20 seconds later to finish with a 5-3 win.

Beyond Domingue's move, the Gladiators locker room was busy with action through the week. On Tuesday, David Laliberté and Martin Lefebvre left the team to pursue other opportunities. The next day, the Glads acquired defenseman Antoine Corbin from Cincinnati for future considerations. On Thursday, the team swung a big five player trade with Fort Wayne, shipping out Mike Embach andNathan Martine for forwards Bobby Hughes and Brett Lyon, and defenseman RobKwiet. Finally, the Gladiators added goaltender Matt Cooper on Friday.
