Eagles Vanquish Wranglers 4-1

LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (14-6-3-1) defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers (8-13-1-0), 4-1, at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday night. The Eagles and their fans also saluted Head Coach Chris Stewart who captured his 500th professional win last week in Florida. Stewart's name and 500 wins were permanently raised to the rafters during the first intermission.

The first goal of the game did not come until 2:59 into the second period as forward Luke Fulghum scored a goal from the slot off of a pass from Eagles captain Riley Nelson to give Colorado the 1-0 lead. Four minutes later Eagles forward Trent Daavettila gave Colorado the 2-0 advantage on a penalty shot, beating Las Vegas netminder Mitch O'Keefe upstairs. With just 7.8 seconds left in the second frame Wranglers forward Matt Tassone found the back of the net on a 5-on-3 power play for Las Vegas to end the second, 2-1.

Less than five minutes into the third frame, Eagles veteran forward Kevin Ulanski put the Eagles up 3-1 with a shot from the top of the circle right off of a face-off. Eagles forward Greg Gardner pumped Colorado's lead to 4-1 as he stuffed home a rebound off a shot from Kyle Ostrow. Eagles goalie Adam Brown was outstanding in net, turning aside 26 of the 17 shots he faced to garner the win.

On December 14th the Colorado Eagles and 107.9 The Bear will be asking Eagles fans to help make the holidays a little more special for hundreds of disadvantaged children across Northern Colorado. During that night's game against the Las Vegas Wranglers, fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently-used teddy bear or stuffed animal to the arena and toss it onto the ice after the first Eagles goal is scored.
