Nailers Loan Goers to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Wheeling has loaned defenseman Barry Goers to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who have signed him to a 25-game professional tryout.

Goers, 27, is playing in his fourth full season of professional hockey, and is currently tied for second on the Nailers in defensive scoring. In ten games with Wheeling thus far, Barry has recorded one goal, four assists, and five points, including one assist in each of his last three contests. Prior to signing with the Nailers, the Ivyland, PA native had spent the majority of his professional career with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers and AHL's Lake Erie Monsters. In 173 regular season games as a pro, he has totaled 14 goals, 56 assists, and 70 points. Once Goers makes his season debut with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he will become the 11th player on the 2013-14 roster to appear in an AHL game this season.

Barry Goers could make his season debut in the AHL as early as this weekend, when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins play host to the Hershey Bears on Friday and the Utica Comets on Saturday.

The Wheeling Nailers have a pair of home games this weekend, as they will take on the Florida Everblades at 7:00 on Saturday and 3:00 on Sunday.
