South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (32-24-4-3) erased a two-goal deficit to defeat the Greenville Road Warriors (32-23-2-4) 3-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night. The win extends the Stingrays' home point streak to a season-high 11 games (9-0-2-0).
Road Warriors forward Danny Hobbs broke open the scoring with an unassisted goal 9:10 into the first period slipping a shot under the glove of Stingrays netminder Ryan Zapolski (W, 25 saves on 27 shots) from the left-wing circle. Defenseman Steven Delisle made it a 2-0 lead at 17:46 when his shot from the right-wing point deflected off a skate and past a sliding Zapolski for his fourth tally of the season.
Defenseman Luka Vidmar put the Stingrays on the board with his fifth goal of the season picking up a loose puck in front of the Road Warriors net and beating goaltender Connor Knapp (L, 31 saves on 34 shots) under the left arm. Forwards Andrew Cherniwchan and Robby Dee picked up assists.
Vidmar tied the contest while on a 5-on-3 power play at 10:49 of the third period with help from defenseman Kevin Quick and Dee. With 43 seconds to play, defenseman Scooter Vaughan completed the comeback for the Stingrays rifling a shot under the blocker of Knapp from between the faceoff circles. Forwards Alex MacLeod and Chris Langkow netted assists.
The Stingrays finished the night 1-for-7 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 0-for-4.
