TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After clawing their way to a hard-earned point on Wednesday, the Cyclones continue their week long home stand tonight as they play host to the Toledo Walleye for the final time this season. Cincinnati is 3-3-1 versus the Fish in 2012-13 with all seven meetings getting decided by two goals or less. Not surprisingly, the all-time series (since 2006) is also airtight with the Clones holding an 29-29-2-1 record.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: 2013 FAITH NIGHT - National recording artist Seabird will perform a post game concert immediately following the action!
SCOUTING THE WALLEYE: Nick Vitucci's club has slipped 12 points back of the Cyclones after dropping five of their last six games. Despite their recent slide, they sill possess one of the league's best defenses, allowing an average of 2.72 goals per game (5th fewest). While their offense is near the middle of the pack, it's not due to a lack of trying; the Walleye lead the ECHL with an average of 33.67 shots per game. Willie Coetzee remains the top scoring threat for Toledo by notching a point per game - he's earned 51 tallies in as many contests this season. Their team captain Kyle Rogers, who has earned six points in seven meeting with Cincinnati, ranks second on the team with 36 points. Jordan Pearce and Kent Simpson have split the goaltending duties for Toledo of late. Pearce has amassed a 15-8-2-1 record this year with a 2.56 goals-against average. Kent Simpson, who has lost his last three appearances, has collected a 14-11-2-3 mark and a 2.57 GAA.
Remarkable Rooks: Although they're both currently in the AHL, Josh Shalla and David Pacan have been among the top first year players in the ECHL this season. Pacan's 48 points rank third among rookies while his assists are tied for the most. Shalla, meanwhile, has lit the lamp 21 times in 2012-13, the third most in the league.
The New Guy: Earlier this week, the Cyclones added a new defenseman to the mix by acquiring Peter Child from Wheeling. The rookie had notched 3 assists in 21 games with the Nailers before being dealt to Cincy.
